The Gathering Project

8 Jan

TGP logo

Today, I’m really excited to share with you a cool project I’ve been working on for the past few months! One of my friends, Chelsea Rose Moore, and I have started a creative workshop that’s debuting on January 25th. It’s a one-day retreat in DC with four sessions hosted by local artisans from the Northern Virginia area. tgpMLT2

Do you like working with your hands? Making your home beautiful? Entertaining and organizing pretty events? I think you might just like the Gathering Project. We have four amazing workshop hosts who will be teaching you about their favorite things and then help you make them! Bonus: You’ll get to take home something you make from each workshop!

During the event, you will learn to style a winter table with Rebecca Gallop of A Daily Something, make seasonal drinks with Rebekah Pizana, craft a winter wreath with Amy Showalter, and paint signage art and lettering with Erik LandstromJanHost5

We really want you to come to our first event. We are also providing breakfast and lunch during the day! From 8-4:30pm, you’ll be hanging out in an awesome DC loft (The Loft at 600 F), which is super chic and artsy. We also have a ton of amazing sponsors including (but not limited to)  Eric Nielsen of Mahogany Print Productions, LoCo Joe’s Coffee, ScrapCutsLily and Val, Knead and Know, June JarsKaufmann Mercantile, and Birch Fields Photography.

Some of these sponsors have even offered amazing things for us to give away so you won’t want to miss that!

Hey look, it’s me and Chelsea!

Sharpie Therapy / 2

31 Oct

This week’s Sharpie Therapy depicts some of my favorite love songs. I’ve been using some amazing pastel sharpies that Grace (the other half of Sharpie Therapy) gave me for my birthday. Enjoy the pictures below and if you want, head over to the our facebook page and check out some more of our work!

Mother’s Day Cards

8 May

What are you planning for Mother’s Day? Will you get to visit your mom or are you planning on sending her some flowers or a gift? I was part of a brunch a couple of weeks ago to celebrate mothers with my good friend, Rebecca. She has an amazing blog, A Daily Something and blogged about the brunch here!

In preparation for this weekend, I doodled some cards ideas for my mom. We are getting together this Saturday and celebrating a day early with my brother and younger sister. Which one is your favorite?IMG_9671 IMG_3657 IMG_4040IMG_5231IMG_4934

I love the second one, “Mom You’re the Best”. 🙂 Watch out mom! You might get one of these this weekend. (I know you read my blog)

Art for a Cause

21 Mar

This past week, I was talking to one my friends and fellow blogger, Rachel. She’s a dear friend and we’ve had gotten to know each other through different political endeavors and my job at Generation Joshua. She’s not just interested in politics, but she’s also creative, innovative and she’s going to Romania in two weeks on a missions trip!

To this end, she’s hosting a coffee shop to fund raise a little before April 5th. I offered to make some things to help her decorate, or perhaps even sell to benefit her at the coffee shop tomorrow night. I wish I could be there to support her but since I can’t, I’m helping in this way.

You may have seen some of the things I made over Instagram (joodlesdoodles) or on Facebook. But here are some additional photos of what I’ve been working on to support her trip to Romania.

The first piece was a take off of something I found on the almighty Google. It’s a cute depiction of various coffees. The faces on each cup are so cute!

The next one shows the make up of all sorts of coffee drinks. Like a cheat sheet for a barista. And since she’s holding a coffeehouse, I thought it would be perfect. I made a stencil for the cup outlines so they would each come out the same size and shape.

IMG_1730IMG_6778The last one I did on canvas. I had one lying around from an old project, so I reused it here for a cause! First, I printed the words on card stock and cut them out. Then, I attached sticky tape to the back and placed them on the canvas. Next, I found some spray paint from another project and took it all outside to cover the canvas in paint. After it dried, I peeled the letters off. Cafe En Romania is the name of her coffee shop tomorrow night!

Valentine’s Cards

8 Feb

Ever since I was young, my family has made hand-crafted valentine’s for each other every year. Since moving out of the house and starting my own home, I’ve tried to keep up the tradition. My mom and dad still send B and me Valentine’s Day packages with cards, candy and cookies. Their cards say the most meaningful, encouraging, and uplifting things. I look forward to them every year.

Below are some of my creations from this year. I’ll have to put them in the mail tomorrow to make sure they get there in time! Which one is your favorite?  😉
