Burlap decor: Easy DIY window valance

19 Feb

Since we moved into our apartment, I’ve turned up my nose at the vertical blinds that take over our living room. They are plastic and can’t be removed because our apartment is a rental. Because the window takes over the entire wall, there is also no way to introduce color or warmth without doing something to the shades.

I came across an easy DIY project for a window valance on In My Own Style. Diane used polystyrene insulation panels from a hardware store and covered them with decorative fabric.

The positives of this project are:

  • This is a no-sew valance
  • You won’t have to screw hardware into the wall
  • It only cost about $30
  • And it was very easy to make

Here is what our blinds look like before:

Stay tuned tomorrow for the step by step DIY window valance process!
