Workwear: Eyelet top and purple skirt

14 Feb

Tip: If a skirt is too long, hike it up with a belt to make it a more suitable and flattering length.

This purple skirt from Banana Republic was snatched up from the outlet sale rack for 70% off.  Such a score! While it was a petite in my size, it still was a little big when I tried it on. It hung down around my hips where low-rise jeans would fall. But for the price I couldn’t beat it!

After wearing it a few times as a “low-rise” skirt, it just kept looking wrong. Like I was wearing a coat that was too big for me or skirt that was meant to be tube top. So I pulled the waist up to make a “higher-waisted” look and Ta-DAAH! It fit perfectly and the length was amazing on me. This right size, petite skirt did fit! I was just wearing it wrong.

(while not the most interesting outfit, it proves a valuable point)

What a pretty color and shape to the skirt, and I totally wear my skirts low all the time, but sometimes it’s more flattering to wear them higher! Plus you can’t beat 70% off. The banana republic outlet is my favorite store! Love all their affordable pieces.
